I am so sick of all this SEC shit! All that incest and claiming no other team outside the SEC could ever compete in the beloved SEC!!!

Not saying you couldnt compete, but you have to admit that the Pac10 and Big10 teams would get beaten up a lot worse in the SEC than in their current leagues.

Who has OSU, U-M, USC, or Cal played this year that is so tough? OSU played UTx - credit there. You know why the SEC never schedules "tough" OOC games? Because there are 3 SEC teams in the top 10 and 5 in the top 15. Anyone else sporting that?

Big 10 - 2 in the top 15, 3 in the top 25
Pac 10 - 2 in the top 15, 4 in the top 25. WSU and Cal were obliterated by SEC teams and yes Arky lost to SoCal, but how do you think they would fare today? I still think Cal would get destroyed by UT and AU would hammer WSU again.

At one point the SEC had 7 teams ranked in the top 25. There is no dispute. There is no contest. There is no other. SEC is the best. PERIOD.

If Ohio State and Michigan had to play Florida's schedule, LSU's schedule, or Auburn's schedule they would have at least 2 losses.

Finally, someone took the bait. OSU would beat the entire SEC on the road in consecutive weeks this year. Michigan would do it, but I admit, they would have to play at home.

But anyway, where do you get off making a comment like that.

And yes, I was picked on a lot as a kid!!!!! Who wants to know!!!

Just like LSU, Auburn and Florida will have at the end of the year. The mid-tier Big10 teams are down this year. OSU doesn't have to play Wisconsin, what do you want? The SEC is outstanding this year, so you have to expect a tough conference to cannabalize itself. I still think a 1 loss SEC team should get into the NC instead of an unbeaten BigEast team. I think that will happen this year. I at least hope it does because that gives even more fuel to the playoff fire.

This argument again? It comes up every year.

Here's what is always the end result of all the often-heated debate: People who already thought the SEC is fantastic still believe it's a conference of giants. Those who thought it's overrated still think it's full of decent teams, but some of the best PR agents in America.

How about we just wait until the bowl games have been played and see if SEC teams do or do not dominate against opponents outside the conference?

Bowl games are a great guage, but it would be nice if the SEC weren't so often handicapped by the pairings also..such as ACC #2 vs SEC #3, etc..as it seems the Bowl Execs love to make the SEC play up in terms of league finishes in a few bowls..a built-in handicap.

It's not like teams aren't already way geeked up to play an SEC team in a bowl game.

You know why you never see these arguments in the NFL thread... becuase the NFL has a playoff. Nobody is worried about if people think some teams are better than the other, becuase the teams will play to find out who is the best.

It is also funny that BIG 10 fans DONT WANT TO SEE A PLAYOFF. I wonder why that is?

Why is it that a PLAYOFF would increase the chances for an SEC team to win a National Championship... yet Decrease the chances for a BIG 10 team to win a National Championship?

Why does the BIG 10 Champion deserve to play for a National Championship over the SEC Champion? One Conference has more teams in the top 25... MORE teams in the top 10... MORE NFL talent... Louder crowds... Harder places to play... and a conference championship game.

The SEC champion deserves to play for the national championship. The fact that most years they dont get that chance is retarted. It would be like the ACC champion in basketball not getting a chance to play for the NCAA basketball championship. People would never let this happen. For some reason it is the case here... and SEC fans are tired of it. That is why there is a lot of this crap from us on the RX.

Very different argument. And another that flares up at least once a year. And doesn't change anyone's already-existing opinions.

Also... I dont know how Bowl games are THE great test for a conference. Bowl Games are worthless unless they are for a national Championship.

VolFan -- who says that Big 10 fans don't want a playoff? Believe me, we do, so that OSU could trounce through everyone -- then maybe that will settle the debate.

To all you SEC homers that talk about how great the SEC is, with so many top-10, top-15 teams, etc., stop your whining. Perhaps you have so many highly-ranked teams because you rarely play anyone OOC, hence your teams are simply overrated every year by the pollsters. Then, when the Auburns of the world lose by 17 at home to the 1-dimensional Arkansas' of the world (ha, ha, ha), you claim how tough the conference is, and that no one could get through that schedule. Give me a freakin' break!!!

THERE IS NOT ONE TEAM IN THE SEC THAT WOULD PUT UP MORE THAN 10 POINTS ON EITHER OSU OR MICHIGAN, HOME OR AWAY. Naturally, OSU & UM would go undefeated in the overrated SEC.

Also, just to make you realize how absurd your logic is, consider the following:

I can guarantee you that there is NO SEC team that could get through the Big 10 with less than 2 losses. Playing OSU, Michigan, Wisconsin, Iowa, and PSU -- it just wouldn't happen, SEC fans. Sure, I'll give you the home wins against Iowa & PSU, but you also have to play road games. So, in other words, the Big 10 must be the better conference, right?

If any of you actually think that OSU wouldn't be undefeated in the SEC, you obviously haven't watched this team play. Perhaps you need to leave your vacuum, and watch the rest of the country play football.

Bowl games aren't THE great test (no single game is), but they can be viewed as rough measuring stick because they pair teams from different conferences of approximately the same level. Conference A 2nd place team 2 vs. Conference B 2nd place team, etc.

There's not a player out there -- and especially not a coach, who get new contracts because of bowl wins -- who believes a bowl game of any level is worthless.

IOWA AND PSU

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Is that a joke... or are you serious????????????

And I dont think any of the top 6 or 7 SEC teams would have trouble putting up more than 10 points on michigan when the following teams have done so.

Central Michigan
Wisconsin
Minn
Mich St.

Way to really lose all credibility with some really dumb comments.

Iowa is pathetic... IOWA-VANDY would be a great matchup.

There is NO pressure in a Peach Bowl, or an Outback Bowl, or in a Motor City Bowl... Pressure comes in the regular season when you have to win every game you play. Bowl Games are just there so teams and the NCAA can collect some cash. The Best Players are already looking towards the NFL, and trying not to get hurt.

Coaches from top-tier teams that go lose bowls consistently get fired. They mean something.

Shows how much you know... You don't watch much football do you? Michigan has the 4th-ranked scoring defense in the country.

Central Michigan scored a TD against the backups in the 4th Q of a 41-10 game.
Wisconsin kicked a field goal with 2 minutes left in the game. By the way, Wisconsin would have the 2nd or 3rd best offense in the SEC.
Minny scored a garbage TD with 4 minutes to play of a 28-7 game.
MSU scored a garbage TD with 7 minutes to play of a 31-6 game.

You know what -- you may be right... A few SEC teams may get to 14 or 17 because THE GAME WOULD ALREADY BE IN DOUBT. I stand corrected.

Nice try, pal. And by the way -- can you read yet? It doesn't look like it. I said, I'll give you Iowa & PSU wins at home, but don't think your beloved SEC teams would automatically go up North and get a W. If you lose by 17 to Arkansas AT HOME, you sure as well won't go into Happy Valley and get a win.
